Local politicians, MWRTA employees and MWCIL celebrated the new flagship vehicles, Gillig buses, at the MWRTA in Framingham. The buses use compressed natural gas for fuel and can hold up to 50 people, including seating for 29.
The buses will operate on the MWRTA’s busiest line, Route 4N, which hits such major MetroWest landmarks as MWRTA headquarters, the Framingham Commuter Rail stop, Shoppers World, MetroWest Medical Center and the Natick Mall.
MWCIL has a long history with MWRTA going back to when it began. Paul Spooner advocated (successfully) to ensure the new Transit Authority would not lessen the transportation access that local citizens previously had from the MBTA. MWRTA remains committed to providing accessible transportation. You can see the ramp in the photo below – the new buses are for everyone!
